After Steve's appearance in the 1994 film, A Simple Twist of Fate he wasn't seen on screen again for another two years. During this absence he wrote the play Picasso at the Lapin Agile and saw it produced for the first time on stage at the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago, Illinois. In the original production, Bill Camp played the part of Picasso and Tom Derrah played Einstein. Picasso is the fictional account of a meeting between Albert Einstein and Picasso at a small French café, the Lapin Agile, at a time in both mens lives just before they are about to become famous in their respective fields. Along with Picasso, three other short plays by Steve are included in the book. A fourth, Guillotine (which was performed along with WASP) is not included here, and has yet to appear in print.
